The meeting included talks by leading scientists from around the world. This event aims to offer a cross-disciplinary perspective on molecular self-assembly and self-organization.
The central topics were:
- Artificial systems: assembling synthetic molecules into well-defined nanostructures and supramolecular polymer materials.
- Biological systems: self-organization in model organisms from all trees of life.
- Inspiration from nature: applying lessons from biological self-assembly and self-organization to create biomimetic systems.
- Technological applications: translation toward smart nanomaterials and molecular machines with programmable functions.

Dr. Tao recently visited the i2cool team in Shenzhen, a spinoff from the City University of Hong Kong, to explore potential collaborations aimed at advancing sustainable cooling technologies. i2cool is renowned for its work on radiative cooling, a passive cooling method that reflects heat away from surfaces without requiring energy, making it an exciting option for eco-friendly cooling solutions.
