Indoor Temperature Reduction

This is one of MEER's most direct field metrics: how much cooler a home becomes once a reflective roof is installed. Reductions of 5–10 °C are common in vulnerable settlements, improving sleep, productivity and health.

Scientific detail

Indoor temperature reduction (ΔT_indoor) is measured against a matched-control baseline using calibrated loggers placed at fixed heights inside intervention and control dwellings. MEER field programs have documented sustained ΔT_indoor of 5–10 °C beneath bamboo–PET roofs relative to tin roofs, correlating with reductions in modeled heat strain and self-reported sleep disruption.
