Empowering change: an upcycling session with the Dorothy Springer Trust
Ten disabled students from the Dorothy Springer Trust joined the MEER team at Aberdeen for a hands-on introduction to upcycling and reflective canopy construction.
Dr. Ye Tao opened the session, introducing MEER's mission to combine environmental conservation with community development, and the transformative power of turning waste into value.
Fabrication Team Lead Saidu Kargbo led the tour, showcasing an upcycled swing bench and a mirror canopy shade covering built from repurposed materials.
The day closed with a live demonstration of PET-bottle upcycling. Feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive, with many asking to join MEER's ongoing training programs.
