Introduction
How to use this site |
 |
You can use the Table of Contents at the top to view this site much as you would a textbook. Or if you prefer to explore in
a non-linear fashion, many of the terms in the text can be searched using the site search engine (Picosearch). You can then navigate through the site by
linking to related topics.
Although this site can be used as a stand-alone reference for basic information about the topics covered,
it is designed to complement rather than replace standard written textbooks and reference works.
Because the internet allows easy publication and distribution of graphics,
this site has emphasized them, and kept the text to the minimum necessary for each subject.
We also try to keep the information on
this site relatively current. However, we obviously cannot keep up with all developments in the marine and environmental sciences,
so we encourage anyone with information, suggestions, or corrections to contact us and let
us know how we can improve the information presented here. We also welcome any suggestions for new topics
and we will incorporate them into the site as soon as possible.
