| The Atlantic Ocean is the world's second largest ocean (after the Pacific), with a total area of 82,442,000 sq. km.(not including its marginal seas), or about 22.8% of the area of the world's oceans (25.9% when the marginal seas are included). The average depth of the Atlantic is approximately 3,900 meters, with a maximum depth of about 9,200 meters. |
